When I was in college, I kept having these feelings of weakness. I would tremble and sweat. I would get to the point where I could not think or even talk. When this happened, I found that if I ate something, I would return to normal.
I went to my doctor and since both sides of my family were diabetic, he wanted me to do a six hour glucose tolerance test. This is done while fasting. They have you drink this orange tasting concoction of glucose then they periodically take your blood to see how your body responds to the sudden surge of glucose.
My blood sugar should rise dramatically and as my insulin opens the doors to my cells, my blood sugar is transported into my cells. Within my cells the glucose is either used as fuel, or if not needed, stored as fat. My blood sugar should normalize within the 6 hours.
Once the test was over, I was not allowed to drive and instead of feeding me something they just told me to go eat something immediately. I had arranged for my girlfriend to drive me. When I got into her car, I thought I was dying. I was trembling and sweating, and I hate being sweaty in a non sweating environment, all that does is make my adrenaline increase and I sweat even more. As I sat in her car shaking and sweating, she asked me how it went? I barked at her as if my symptoms were her fault.
“How do I feel? Did you really ask that? I haven’t eaten in nearly a day! They have been poking holes in me like I am some sort of pin cushion! They’ve been bleeding me as if it was the medieval times. Really! How Do I Feel!”
I was verbally lashing out at her. I want to let you know that being mean to her was a real sin because she oozed sweetness. What I was doing was being the victim. I had to blame someone for me feeling so miserable, and there she was sitting within lashing distance.
“What do you want to eat?” She asked, kindly.
I told her to take me to Taco Bell. And to do it quickly! I was craving Enchiritos. I would have done anything for an Enchirito, including being mean and nasty to my sweet sweet girlfriend. She actually became my fiancé, but she smartened up and dumped me, which was one of the best things that ever happened to me. More on that at a later time.
When we arrived at the Taco Bell that was on the same street as the medical clinic, but way down at the other end, I ordered several Enchiritos. It’s funny looking back forty years, Taco Bell was way down at the other end. Today it’s maybe mid way. After eating several Enchiritos, I became me again and apologized profusely to my sweet girlfriend.
Change Your Chemistry…
Change Your Mind…
Change Your Body…
Have you ever had low blood sugar? What kind of thoughts were you thinking? What feelings do you have with low blood sugar thoughts? What kind of actions do you take with those low blood sugar feelings? Can you get the results you want when you have low blood sugar?
In psychology they have a paradigm. It goes like this.
Thoughts control your feelings and your feelings control your actions, and your actions control your results.
Thoughts → Feelings → Actions → Results
Chemistry → Thoughts → Feelings → Actions → Results → Chemistry
Your internal chemistry may not govern your thoughts, but it does govern the type of thoughts you may have. If you have low blood sugar, your thoughts are most likely to be negative. If your hormones are imbalanced, your thoughts are also most likely to be negative. If your neurotransmitters are imbalanced, your thoughts are most likely to be depressingly negative.
The first step we took to being healthy, happy, and filled with zest was to harmonize our internal chemistries. Our internal chemistries were harmonized by balancing our hormones, balancing our blood sugar, and balancing our neurotransmitters. When our chemistry is balanced, our thoughts are more likely to be of the positive kind.
the first component of The HOPE Protocol began with balancing our internal chemistries. Once our internal chemistries were harmonized, we then work on controlling our thoughts. When our thinking has improved, our feelings switched from being fueled by negative thoughts to being fueled by positive thoughts. When our feelings were more on the positive end, our ability to take positive actions was greatly improved. Think avoiding empty calories like sugar or not drinking the second glass of wine. When our actions were improved, we had better results, think being thinner and more energized. When we had better results, guess what? Our internal chemistry improved.
The primary reason so many of us are suffering from disharmony is the disruption of our hormones. The primary disruption to our hormonal balance is chronic inflammation. So many of us are suffering from chronic inflammation because so many contaminates have found their way into our bodies.
Inflammation occurs because our bodies are constantly battling with these contaminants. Here is an example of what I am talking about. If you drank conventional coffee this morning it is most likely filled with two very strong pesticides that are very harmful to your body. These pesticides are banned in the United States and most modern countries. Of course where the ban exists not much coffee is grown. These pesticides enter our body through our coffee and our bodies have negative reactions. This negative reaction is inflammation. If you drink coffee everyday, you are placing these very nasty pesticides into your body continually. This will eventually cause chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is not only the primary cause of hormonal disruption, but also the cause of many cancers, diabetes, heart disease, strokes, Alzheimer’s, and obesity.
You can reduce this upstream source of contamination by drinking organic coffee. These pesticides do not exist in organically certified coffee. Of course, it is nearly impossible to be totally pure in these modern days but you will be taking one step to reducing the upstream source of contaminants, and therefore, chronic inflammation. You must also realize that these contaminants may build up in your body. The larger the build up the less healthy you will become.
This blog post isn’t about organic coffee. It is about how your internal chemistry affects your thinking. Little things like conventional coffee can affect your internal chemistry. You add up all of these little things and your internal chemistry becomes disharmonized. When your internal chemistry is disharmonized, your thoughts are more likely to be of the negative type. The more negative your thoughts are the more likely you will be unhappy with the way you look and feel.
The HOPE Protocol is all about harmonizing our internal chemistries. This will change our thoughts from the negative to the positive. When we have positive thoughts, we will have positive feelings. When we have more positive feelings, we will take more positive actions. When we take more positive actions, we will have more positive results. With more positive results, we will have a better balanced internal chemistries.
If you are having difficulty with keeping your thoughts positive, and would like to know more about how we changed our internal chemistries and how this changed our thoughts to be much more positive, we would love to give you as a gift an introductory coaching package. This package includes 3 coaching sessions, weekly plans and 24/7 texting over a two week period.
Why would we do this? I have recently retired from practice after practicing for over 35 years. The phone continued to ring after my retirement and Vicky convinced me to go into coaching and not waste the knowledge we had gained from owning and operating 7 different hormone and weight loss clinics throughout Northern California. We want everyone to know what we did to look great and feel great during our third act.
Our third act is the best ever!
