“Whenever you change your diet, constipation may occur. When you suffer from constipation, it is important to use a natural constipation remedy quickly.”
Many of our clients will suffer from constipation in the beginning of the program. It is usually caused by a loss of water within the bowels and/or a lack of lubrication within the bowels. Here is what we do when suffering from constipation due to diet change. We have provided a cheat-sheet that you can download at the bottom of this blog.
The Mac Constipation Remedy
Drink lots of water in between meals
When you have dropped weight quickly, it is usually water that you have lost. This drop in your body’s water can cause constipation. Increase water intake between meals, even if you think you are drinking plenty of water. Increasing water intake can be a constipation remedy on its own.
Increase your consumption of healthy fats
One of the primary causes of constipation while on The Mac Vegetein Diet is the reduction of lubrication within your bowels. Add more organic coconut oil, grass fed butter, organic grass fed ghee or organic extra virgin olive oil to your diet. Click on the links that will send you to our recommendations on Amazon. This will usually do the trick. Increasing healthy fat intake can also be a constipation remedy all on its own.
Drink a cup of organic coffee first thing in the morning
If you are not drinking coffee, this is the time to do so. Remember to use organic coffee and limit it to one cup. If you drink a lot of coffee and have reduced your coffee intake, this alone could cause constipation. For heavy drinkers that are constipated, you may need to drink 2 cups. Take a relaxing walk
Take a walk and relax. You may just need to relax your body and bowels. All of my clients need to do more of this. relax…
We recommend taking 400 mg of magnesium supplement with each meal
When constipated magnesium supplementation helps. We take 400 milligrams with each meal until our bowels regulate. This usually remedies within 2 days. Then we go to one supplement per day with breakfast. Magnesium supplementation is a constipation remedy all on its own.
Drink Smooth Move Tea, tea with Senna leaf, with each meal,
We drank a cup of smooth move tea with each meal for a maximum of 2 days. Senna should only be used for temporary solution. We did not drink it for more than 2 days. This tea can cause our bowels to become dependent. Senna tea is a temporary constipation remedy.
Add one teaspoon of ground flaxseed with each meal or a teaspoon of flaxseed oil
If you are not taking omega 3’s use them first. If you are than add Flaxseed.
Flax is estrogenic, but we have found that if constipation is severe, this is necessary. Using flaxseed for 2 days will not usually increase estrogen levels to the point of causing weight loss resistance. We recommend using flaxseed as a last resort as a constipation remedy.
